Aviation Interfaith Ministry

Resources / Services

The chapel provides a unique set of services and resources for the aviation community. All services and resources are free of charge and are aimed at promoting spiritual growth in the individual. Our literature, counselling and prayer support originate from a Christian perspective. The love demonstrated by Jesus Christ to all of mankind serves as a model for us to follow so we have the unique ability to minister and pray for all people out of love. The second command is in fact to "love your neighbour as your self" and if we obey the fist command to love the Lord with all our heart we have the indwelling of the Holy Spirit that enables us the ability to accomplish the second command.

We are a valuable resource for any one in need because one premise of our philosophy of ministry is rooted in an understanding that we are a refferal group. For example, homeless people are referred to other agencies which are better suited for there specific needs. In counseling we refer to other agencies and work with them in a collective effort for the benefit of the client. We do not charge for our services but raise support through fund raising activities. At any time we will pray for you.

Counseling

We are here for people who need to vent or who simply need to talk to someone. Often the Lord connects us with people who are struggling with the meaning of life, death or grief, ethical dilemmas and family and gender issues. Our counseling topics include:
  • Anger Resolution
  • Family Crisis
  • Suicide
  • Depression
  • Marriage
  • Abuse
  • Self-esteem
  • Spiritual Help
Our caring and qualified staff utilize their year of experience and knowledge of the bible to provide sound counseling. When needed, we will co-ordinate support teams made of other agencies and people while still maintaining contact with the individual. The success of our team is measured by the number of people who have been helped and reintegrated into the workforce.
"The friend who can be silent with us in a moment of despair and confusion, who can stay with us in an hour of grief and bereavement, who can tolerate not knowing, not curing, not healing and face us with the reality of our powerlessness, that is the friend who cares."
-Henri Nouwen

Prayer Support

Our primary focus is the people of the airport, but our God is bigger than the universe and our commitment is to pray for anyone who submits a request. We serve an awesome God and plan to post a journal of answered prayers.

Chapel Store

Our store is located right beside the chapel. The chapel store is open on Tuesdays between 10AM and 2PM. Please call before stopping in (291-0064), the store is run by volunteers and if the volunteers are not there, the store will not open that day. The items in the store are the confiscated items given up at check in and have been donated to the chapel store by the airport. These items are sold at a very discounted price and all profits go to support the chapel as it exists entirely by donations and store profit. Typical items include:
  • Maple Syrup
  • Pop
  • Swiss Army Knives
  • Lighters
